Lots of change but still the same

As we approach the one-year anniversary of our national lockdown, there’s a lot we couldn’t have dreamt would have changed this year. We’re sure you’re aware of all the worldwide changes, but we’d thought we’d give you a taste of what’s changed around our slice of paradise here at Surf Lodge South Africa.

Out with the old, in with the new

We’ve said goodbye to our trusty lodge van after its years of transporting our guests on numerous adventures and surf missions. It’s been time for a change, something smaller, but with just as much power, and soon to carry just as many memories.Surf Lodge car

Baby on Board

In February, our manager Challyn and his wife Ruth have welcomed the birth of their daughter, Arrow Jane. You never know, the next time you arrive, you may just see her in the waves.

Never Refuse to Reuse

At around the same time, we invited Ludi from Valiant Creative Works – as many may remember him as one of the most legendary managers we’ve ever had at the Surf Lodge – to completely flip and renovate a double garage into a home for them. Within a month’s work, the space was unrecognizable. Check out what he’s done – maybe some of you will remember glimpses of the space and how it looked before

Some things to look forward to:

Winter Waves

The seasons are slowly turning… I’m sure you all remember the photos and glimpses of a perfectly clean lineup in our hard lockdown of March 2020. Supertubes was working and so were the police to make sure every surfer stayed off the beach. Here’s a throwback photo to show you what we all missed, and to get us excited for what’s hopefully ahead this time around. #WinterWaves

Salted – Surf School & Café

2019 birthed Salted. Our vibey surf school situated in Jbay, the greatest post-surf coffee and more importantly, the lifestyle. We closed down the physical surf shop just before lockdown last year, but the legacy has strongly lived in our hearts… we’ve spent the year wondering and mulling over how we could just let it go…

Keep an eye on our social media for some exciting stuff. It’s still in the pipeline but we can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to. #LiveSalted
