To help you get ready for your stay at Surf Lodge South Africa in Jeffreys Bay, we’ve put together the ultimate packing checklist, everything you need for an unforgettable surf camp in South Africa.

1. Surf essentials

First, the best news: we’ve got you covered on the big stuff! Wetsuit and surfboard rentals are fully included in most packages. What to bring:

  • Swimwear: Bring a few sets. Trust us, you will deeply appreciate putting on a dry bikini or boardshorts the next morning!
  • Reef-safe sunscreen & zinc*: Protect the ocean while protecting your skin.
  • Beach towels*
  • Cap or bucket hat for sun protection during summer
  • Flip flops or sandals

2. What Clothes to Pack for Your Surf Camp

  • Light summer clothes
  • A warm hoodie* or jacket for cooler evenings or early morning surfs
  • Activewear for hikes and yoga sessions
  • One nice outfit for going out or enjoying a wine tasting
  • Something comfy for lounging at the lodge (especially during winter!)

3. Must-Have Travel Essentials for Your Surf Trip

  • Passport: valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date
  • Travel insurance: always recommended for surf trips!
  • Reusable water bottle*
  • Phone + charger (and maybe a power bank for safari day)
  • Small backpack for day trips
  • South Africa adapter: Type M / Type N plugs
  • Cards work at most places, but it’s recommended to carry some cash for tips
