Surf Lodge Diary: second entry and Merry Christmas to all!

Hello sunshine! I said when I woke up at 6:30 this morning. I stretched my limbs a little and then decided to drink a huge cup of the best surfers breakfast blend coffee from the coffee shop – which is actually the best I’ve ever had in my entire life. During my hello-world-hot-bev, the others fell out of their cabins and took a couple sips just as Justin arrived for our morning yoga session which was outstanding.
The lodge manager had prepared an awesome breakfast for us with berry-porridge, scrambled eggs, loads of fresh cut fruits, cheese & super fresh and delicious sourdough ciabatta bread. As I sat down with my breakfast and a breathtaking ocean view in front of me, I felt like I was on cloud nine.

After breakfast, we had a good time of conversation and some of us drove to J-bay to fetch some groceries. The boys went surfing, and we took a couple pictures of them.

In the afternoon, we went back to the lodge, chilled out for a while, played some darts and afterwards we started preparing the amazing Lodge Braai while we had some red wine and again: great conversation.

We prepared mushrooms filled with sun-dried tomato pesto and feta cheese, garlic-cheese-butter-ciabatta, Mediterranean spiced green beans, a huge salad bowl, beef fillet, ostrich boerewors (sausage) and oven potatoes with garlic, rosemary and Himalaya salt. Cooking and preparing food the way we did was an absolutely amazing experience with these extraordinary human beings.
Having these incredible aromas of boiling red wine with fresh herbs & garlic, as well as combining every single vegetable possible into the salad like a beautiful drawing and some jazz music playing in the background – to me it felt like pure situative perfection.

The braai was lighted up and the manager began to grill the marinated beef fillet and ostrich wors. As soon as they were done, we started eating this colourful composition of outstanding food; drinking great wine, laughing, joking around, serious talking about politics; and had some watermelon for dessert; finally rolling to bed super happy and super full which is where I’m writing from.

Merry Christmas, good night & bis Bald!
